MOST IMPORTANT WARNING: This route has been descatalogued as PR (Pequeño Recorrido). The reason is its extreme hardness and the tremendous slope. It is a high mountain route reserved for very prepared people. In the absence of a new name, the old one is still used.

This route, opened in 1986, connects the town of Sotres with the Urriellu refuge through the Pandébano pass. It is a shorter and more comfortable alternative to the old Camburero ascent, allowing you to observe the transition from mid-mountain meadows to the high mountains of the Central Massif, with the Naranjo de Bulnes or Picu Urriellu, as the main protagonist.

The route connects the high part (Sotres) with (Poncebos), passing by the foot of Picu Urriellu (Naranjo) and the village of Bulnes.

• Type: Circular (Tielve ↔ Sotres).
• Distance and Duration: 14.1 km (complete circuit) / 4 hours and 30 minutes.
• Level: 530 m ascent and descent.
• Difficulty: Medium.

Overview The route links the cheese villages of Tielve and Sotres, bordering Monte Camba. Being circular, it can be started in either of the two villages, although caution is recommended on the road sections.

The Route (Starting in Tielve)

Route description: Poncebos , Cain, Posada de Valdeón

Option 1: Complete Route (North-South Traverse)

• Type: Linear / Traverse (Poncebos ->Posada de Valdeón).
• Distance and Duration: 21 km (approx.) / 6 hours and 30 minutes (one way).
• Level: +1,000 m accumulated ascent (starting at 200 m, climbing to 500 m at Los Collaos, descending and finishing at 939 m in Posada).
• Difficulty: Medium / High (mainly because of the length and physical effort)

Parking in Canales

The route takes us from the village of Canales to Collau los Buitres. The village of Canales is reached from the top of Las Estazadas. Just when the road towards Carreña overlooks the gorge of the river Casaño.

The route of the Covaciella Artists begins at the entrance of the Casa Bárcena Museum where you can visit an excellent replica of the bison of the Covaciella Cave. If the Museum is closed, right here, the application offers us its first scene: "The bison of the Covaciella", which allows us to admire these bison in detail.

Before setting off, we can take the opportunity to see the views of Carreña and its surroundings, as well as the hórreo and the chapel that complete the set of the Casa Bárcena.

The route begins in the village of La Molina which we reach by taking a detour at the top of Las Estazadas once past Ortiguero Carreña direction in the AS 114

Before immersing ourselves in the route should enjoy the beautiful view of the river and the rugged environment in which carves an impressive gorge.
