Enjoy Cabrales safely
The high mountain environment that characterizes Cabrales requires preparation and prudence. Safety begins before starting the route and depends, to a large extent, on proper planning and a realistic assessment of our capabilities.
Before setting out: plan your route
Check maps, reviews and characteristics of the itinerary: distance, slope and technical difficulty.
Check the weather forecast, bearing in mind that in the mountains conditions can change quickly.
Avoid going out alone. The minimum recommended group size is three people. Always inform someone of your route and the expected time of return.
Start the activity with sufficient time margin and adapt the pace to the slowest member of the group.
A good planning is the main preventive measure. The overestimation of one's own capabilities is one of the most frequent causes of incidents in the mountains, above many objective risks.
