The council of Cabrales is located in the east of Asturias, on the northern slope of the Picos de Europa National Park. Its location makes it a strategic point: just 30 minutes from the coast and very close to towns such as Llanes, Cangas de Onís or Covadonga. Although it is a mountainous territory, road access is easy from the main towns in the north of the peninsula.

The main access road is the AS-114 (Cangas de Onís - Panes), which crosses the council from west to east.

From the Autovía del Cantábrico (A-8), the most direct entrance is:

• Exit 307 (Posada/Barro). From Posada de Llanes, take the AS-115 to join the AS-114 in Ortiguero, already within the council.

Cabrales has a local cab service for journeys within the council and connections with other councils of Asturias. Transfers to the airport, as well as to train and bus stations are also available ("it is possible to hire"), under previous reservation.
