The route of the Calzada Romana de Caoru is divided into three main sections.
1. Arenas de Cabrales-Invernales de Portudera.
2. Winter Portudera - Collau Posadoriu
3. Collau Posadoriu - Tielve
Stretch 1 between Arenas de Cabrales and Invernales de Portudera climbs steadily up 780 meters in less than 5 km. To do this we climb along a normally well-marked, cobblestone road.
Stretch 2 between Invernales de Portudera and Collau Posadoriu climbs 320 meters. This section runs along the high part of the mountain range. It runs more than four kilometers through a maze of limestone, and sheepfolds where it is necessary to be very attentive not to lose the way. Upon arrival we find the sheepfold of Humardo, and shortly before the end of this section of Tordin Often we border the river Cares from which separate us slopes that reach 1,000 meters.
In section 3, between Collau Posadoriu and Tielve, coming from Cabrales when arriving at Collau Posadoriu we must look for, on our left, the path that skirts that slope to go in an easterly direction (it should be avoided to go down sharply, as it carries a risk of falling), and goes down gradually, on a path that retains the cobblestone at times, until you reach the Collado Entrejano (Cruz de Entrejanu) from where we descend to Valfrío, which we recognize by the concrete road by which we descend to Tielve.
We recommend studying the route beforehand with the material we provide to avoid unforeseen events, as the route is worthwhile and it is advisable to enjoy it with guarantees.
On clear days the views are splendid for much of the route, being a very aerial route, which crosses the valley of the Cares to Duje, offering views of the northern part of the council of Cabrales and also of the Picos de Europa
However should remain alert due to the steep slopes and the frequency of fog, The snows and rains often arrive quickly and unexpectedly, causing disorientation, and more often than desirable more or less serious cliffs.
