It is a high mountain meadow located in the Central Massif of the Picos de Europa, above the village of Bulnes that occupies the center of a "jou" (depression of glacial origin surrounded by limestone rock) historically used by shepherds for livestock. It is not an easily accessible sheepfold; reaching it involves overcoming the demanding Canal de Amuesa from Bulnes, a climb with a considerable slope. It is a wild place, of great beauty and hardness, and obligatory step in more technical mountain routes, such as the ascent to Torrecerredo access the Refuge of Jou de los Cabrones
