Covaciella Cave

Cueva de la Covaciella

Discovered by chance during construction work, its importance is paramount. It houses a main panel with representations of bison, a horse and a deer of exceptional quality and state of preservation, made with black charcoal strokes. The most relevant thing is that one of these bison figures is considered one of the best of the Paleolithic rock art in the world. Its dating, around 14,000 years B.C., and its excellent conservation, having been sealed for millennia, make it a sanctuary of Paleolithic Art. The original cave is not open to the general public to ensure its conservation.
