Church of Santa María de Llas

Santa de Santa María de Llas

This Romanesque church (12th-13th centuries) is the jewel of the religious heritage of Cabrales. Its most outstanding element is the south doorway, with four archivolts decorated with baquetons and half reeds resting on capitals finely sculpted with plant motifs, griffins, harpies and human figures in narrative attitude. The semicircular apse, with figured corbels, and the interior, which preserves part of its original construction, complete a masterpiece of Asturian rural Romanesque architecture.
